Back in 1994, I was the “team daddy” (senior operations and intelligence sergeant) for ODA 354—an A-Detachment (“A-team”) in 3rd Special Forces Group that specialized in free-fall parachute operations (which we never used in any actual op).
This is really good, Stan. I've been rageful sometimes of late. It bothers me because I made a vow to walk for peace when the Buddhist monks came by, passing just a couple of miles from my house, outside of Pittsboro. It was a moving experience, an odyssey of sorts, their walk to DC. Many people wept. They walked through the South (with the small but efficient support team), protected by law enforcement in each town, and were the epitome of not panicking in circumstances that could easily have turned dark. One could detect that dark energy slithering. But the monks were focused on their mission, their breath, walking 2300 miles in challenging weather without missing a beat, meeting with people in stops along the way, not getting much sleep. It made an impression on me about the quiet strength in disciplining the mind.
There are several content creators with whom I’m in agreement, but who repeatedly and uncreatively use inflammatory rhetoric in the headlines. Most disagreeable is the labelling of Canadians - that’s my hood - as “furious” about some occurrence or other.
I have stopped reading the stuff because of the lazy mischaracterization.
