The only change came from America as we increased our troop commitments in support of governments which were singularly corrupt, inept and without popular support.
You do not get DNA from all your ancestors. As close as about 5 generations back, depending on all the various generic stuff, you probably have at least one genealogical ( who slept with who ) ancestor who is not also a biological ( you share DNA ) ancestor - you literally have no physical relationship to them. Go further back, usually, and you encounter pedigree collapse ( your great aunt on one line is also your great grandmother on another, or whatever ).
Fantastic work! And yet… and yet. What do you have to say about blacks, though? There’s still something special going on here with blacks in the United States. What is it? It cannot be washed away in colorblind “Social Democratic politics,” and I am a communist and I am ultimately a “class reductionist”!
Are you serious? American blacks, slave descendants. There is plenty to say about black immigrants, as well, if you'd like. But I mean the normal meaning, slave descendants.
quite serious... people are far more than their descendants ... have you read parts 1-3? what's 'going on' are a lot of things (as described through the series), but it is far from homogeneous, and far even from merely class differences... what I've taken pains to point out is that "'black' or 'african american' has some limited historical and even political utility as a category, but to answer your question--were I even qualified to do so--requires greater specificity. (I'm not a communist or a class reductionist.) there is no unified and universal black american experience. are we talking about redlining... that's one experience... black farmers and the usda... another experience ... 'mixed' families... that's a lot of diverse experiences...

I am afraid this is a copout. But OK.
